I've never "tested" it but I always set it to Best if doing resampling. My guess is that it makes a difference. You could render once with Good, once with Best, and subtract them to see what the difference is.

i have always just left it a "good" cause this is what i do with video. i can honestly say, there is no difference in these settings when rendering video. but it takes like 5 times as long to render. i just happened to switch it in messing with settings trying to get my motu to cooperate. i imediately notice a difference. thanx for the response.

For audio if the arrangement contains material of a different rate to the project, even set on "best" it is a very poor sample rate conversion, that is easily audible. For anything important I would use another app to change it.
Best would be the only acceptable setting.
I am not sure when the audio files are the same rate as the project.

would being set to "best" cause a heavier load on my pc during playback? or does this setting only apply to rendering?

Get your windows CPU meter sitting in the corner and see if the difference when switching between the two in your project is significant for you. (it should not be)
