Resizing Algorithm

To begin, this is an academic question and not related to anything Im actually trying to do. I'm just curious about how stuff works.

Before importing stills, I resize the image I want to 655 x 480 pixels, Vegas gives me a full frame DV image without distortion. From time to time, I have to work with small, lower resolution source material. I generally resize these to 328 x 240 pixels prior to import. Once again, Vegas gives me a full frame DV image without distortion.

Everything works as it should. I'm a happy and satisfied user.

My question is: Can the resizing algorithm be turned off? Can I import a 328 x 240 pixel image and not have it resized to full frame?

Go into Pan/Crop and you can resize it however you want. I suggest right-clicking the "F" window and choosing "Match Output Aspect"

Correct. Go into Pan/Crop. Right click, Match Output Aspect, and then put in 655x480 for the Size. Your image will now be in it's native resolution, and can be moved around using Track Motion.

Hello - and thanks to you both, but perhaps I presented my question inartfully.

I think I must have left the impression that I was interested in turning off the Resizing Algorithim as means to avoid using Pan-Crop to resize after importing a still. Not so - I'm quite satisfied to use Pan-Crop as needed. I'm simply curious as to whether or not the Resizing Algorithim can be turned off.

Thanks again,
