Retiring

Hanging it up after 30 years in the video business. Have enjoyed hanging out with you Vegas guys and gals on this board. I started out with an Amiga 500 doing my first titles. Man, have things come a long way!
I have some really nice, well-cared for equipment. Anyone want to upgrade, expand or get in the business? Good luck and God's blessing on all of you who work on in this fun and challenging business.

You might post a list of the kit you want to pass down. Congrats on the future fishing. Why would you ever stop doing this? John.

Congratulations for the change, for the new adventures that are waiting for you in your new lifestyle. I'm sure that you won't leave the "scene"... this is much more than just a job... It's more like a game... a funny, everyday game...
Probably from now on you'll start shooting what really cares...

I might be interested in some good used equipment. By all means, post a list (or a link to a list). Hope you enjoy your retirement!

That is quite ironic. I'm in software design/development and at 40 am looking at video (some pre-production like events and some post production like DVD authoring) to be my retirement "job". You know, jobs on the side as I feel like it and it suites me. I enjoy the technical and creative aspect of it.

Actually, I'm doing it on the side right now and it is fun but I'm trying to keep it undercontrol.

i wish you luck with your retirement! i did the same four years ago, even retiring to the outback here in australia, and have been worked off my feet ever since! this time round there's hardly any money in it but a. it's real fun and creativite freedom, b. i don't need anyhting more than my 170 and vegas - no one questions me about software, camera quality, and what i do looks pretty damn good to people whose free to air reception can look like bad vhs on occassions....

enjoy, but don't think it's over yet....

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. A competitor friend here in town bought most of my equipment when he found out I was retiring. I only have 3 pieces of equipment left in case any of it is on anybody's need list:
1- Shure M267 Audio Mixer $50.00 Excellent
1- Nady Encore I VHF Wireless Lav Mic 215.20 MhZ $50.00 Excellent
1- JVC GY-DV500U 3-Chipper (would have to use it as camera only because deck is defective. Otherwise, the camera is excellent and clean as a pin) Includes tripod mount. Great for feeding into a mixer, deck, or one of the new hard drive recorders. $750.00
Fair prices?
