Hi, being let down by DavinciResolve due to a lot of annoying and destructive bugs, I was looking for an alternative. I am mainly editing Tutorials with a workflow that is probably different from what the pro-editors use. Hence the Davinci Resolve community isn't taking YouTube creators seriously. My workflow only requires these few special tools, the Speed Change and Ripple Tool. But to my surprise, none of the many apps I've tried do it right. Even the infamous Hitfilm is a great disappointment (Let alone that you need to buy the software in order to get Dark-Mode UI).
So I remembered Vegas and downloaded the trial. For a moment I thought FINALLY an editor that has everything I need. Maybe I was wrong.
Now, what is it that I need and apparently only DavinciResolve can.
Suppose I have a video track and a separate audio-track. I want to split the parts of the video where I don't talk and speed those up in order to shorten the overall video duration ( not the audio). The audio in the area is silent anyway.
Simply speaking, I want to Ripple-Speed-up the silent video clip. DavinciResolve does the Ripple correctly in a sense that it also pulls the video/audio BEHIND the silent video clip while the pulled audio clip overrides the audio clip beneath the sped-up clip.
Now what Vegas does wrong is, it also affects/moves any clip beneath the silent video clip. It should NOT. By doing so, the audio that is supposed to stay where it is, overwrites the adjacent clip in front of it.
So my question is, is it possible to only ripple clips, video and audio, behind that clip?
Thanks in advance,
V
