Ripple editing

Am I missing something or does VV not apply ripple editing in the traditional way?
In Speed Razor or Video Toaster if I have ripple editing on and I shorten/lengthen a clip by dragging the in/out points, the clips after will move accordingly. In VV if I alt/drag a clip it doesn't shorten or lengthen just the in/out points change. I know I can select an area and ctrl x and the clips after will move accordingly but this is not as quick and also I've found that this leaves remnants behind. So, is there a way to drag and shorten a clip and have the clips after it move?

vegas doesn't do that, but if there is another event immediately following the event you shortened, double click in the gap, then hit DELETE

that's the fastest way I know of.
