ripple edits not working in Win2K

I wanted to see if anyone else is having a problem with ripple edits. I can insert fine. When I cut or delete an event the rest of the video events to the right doesn't shift left as I would expect. (Yes, the ripple edit button is down) I have tried turning off the envelop locks and event grouping and removing any audio files. No luck. I have to drag all my events by hand. Anyone have any ideas.

Just checking -- are you sure that you are ripple editting correctly?

Ripple edit cuts only work if you have selected a time range. If you just select an event, ripple edits don't work (by design). If you double-click an event, the time range gets set automatically. When I discovered this (it's in the manual), ripple edits worked as I expected. You can alternately select a time range by dragging in the ruler bar (above track 1).
