Ripple- On Ripple-Off. Video Overlay using text?

I'm putting or edting text before some aother text that is someway down the timeline. I'm finding that the older text has been moved from its orginal postion. A bit frustrating. Yes, I do have ripple editing invoked - I'm sure this is the problem. Questions - How do I select ripple editing just for the tracks it is pertaiing to - here it is the video/text overlay? Do I have to Ripple-Off, for just that edit session - making me to have to remeber to ripple-on afterwards?

I'm sure it is a simple answer. As with most things in VF it can be done, but the interface is shy to let the VF virtues shine forth!

Thanks in advance

The manual approach is probably best. If you want this insert/edit to affect events down the timeline, turn on Ripple Edit. If you don't want it to, then turn off Ripple Edit.

Yup - I thought as much. I presume that Ripple edit on/off effect all the video and audio tracks - not just the - in my case - the overlay ie the one I'm playing with.

Thanks anyway
