It will be a second phase in the corrupt world to manufacture forged popular no-name brands. IMHO.

With all brands, you can check the ID electronically on the disc itself to then be able to equate a quality control failure with a disc manufacturing glitch. The manufacturers themselves move their manufacture around to satisfy demand and run their life cycle plans.

If you archive to DVD alone, spread your risk by varying well regarded manufacturers, some of which will be "name brands". If you make masters, write more than one, across the types and store them as far apart as is economical.

SVP.co.uk bother to list the manufacturer data on their sales site. This should be encouraged with all sellers and kept current. I have no affiliation with SVP.co.uk.
