I have been using studio for a couple years and just got got my Vegas program a couple weks ago. I'm starting to get some stuff figured out. I can not seem to figure out how to get a video track to move as a pic in a pic. I am using track motion and can make them fit where I want and the size I want but I can not figure out how to get them to move. It also seems that the more video tracks you have they play slower and slower, so you can not get audio to match video.

Thanks for your time

You need to use keyframes to move from one point to the other. I talk about this in the first three issues of my newsletters

You need lots of RAM to see what you're doing in preview mode. Pic in pic can be accomplished by bringing in 'full size' (720x480) avi to lowest video track. Then the Pic in pic, will have to go on a video track above and you'll have to use the 'pan & crop' tool to shrink the pic down to the size and location you want. Re-render a new avi and watch. I'm assuming you don't have a lot of RAM, I had 256 RAM and had trouble watching and syncing two videos together, I went up to 768 RAM and it's a lot better but not perfect. It will always be: The more video tracks, effects, transitions, color enhancements, audio changes, etc. the less you can see in live preview mode. Sometimes you can 'mute' a track, like say mute one of the video tracks, so you can hear the audio from 2 sources and line them up, or which ever way works best. This will make your preview a little better when trying to line things up. Hope this helps.
(I just re-read your 1st thread and may have mis-understood you. If you actually want the Pic in the pic to move around on the screen, this is something I haven't done yet. Sorry.)

Thanks jetdv. I read those articles and it makes a little more sense. I knew it was in key frames but had not figured it out yet. I will give it a try in the morning.

Thanks jetdv It was much easier than I was making it out to be. I am still experiencing slowdown In playback preview, the tracks get slower the more tracks I lay down. Is this related to computer speed, or will it render out fine, or is there a way to work around the slow down. I have a computer that was made for video editing. I believe it has two 512's .
Thanks for your time

Yes, it's related to computer speed. And, yes it will render fine.

Some things you can do to help increase the playback rate:
1) Change your preview setting. For example, if you are using one of the "full" settings, change to one of the "auto" settings. Similarly, if you are using "Good" or "Best", drop it to "Preview". (note that the preview quality will be decreased)

2) RAM render which will help for small sections (depending on the amount of memory you have)

3) Pre-render or render to new track - this will let you see the full rendered version.
