Rough Vocals

Is there anyway to repair a jagged wave on a vocal track? I used the SF Clipped Peak Restoration plug-in and some hard compression but i still get a rough sounding vocal when it gets loud. The wave doesn't really slope very graciously on the rough part. So i was wondering
a: can I use some sort of plug-in, or do i have to redraw the wave in Sound Forge?
b: will this help?

I might mention that part of the problem may stem from the fact that I did this recording live so there's a good bit of bleed-through. possibly causing some problems??
Thanks for any help.
Tim

Hi Tim,
I'm not sure what you mean by 'jagged'. I'd beware of editing a waveform based on visuals...do you have an MP3 you can show us?

If you try and edit a long waveform with the pencil tool (ie: longer than 50 samples or so) it just won't work. Waveforms are more complex than you can draw with a pencil tool.

I've been asking some of my audio professors at MTSU, they seem to think that it's just some sort of digital distortion and that it's probably stuck there.(Also that the shape of the wave, unless clipped, wouldn't ever cause this, so redrawing would probably send me barking up the wrong tree) I'm not giving up yet though. I really like this take so i'll keep exploring. If you give me an email address i can send you the mp3(or just the part in question) and maybe you could chime in on what you think is going on.
Thanks again,
Tim
