I asked customer service but don't have an answer yet. Can anyone tell me if the audio and video files included on the Screenblast CD are royalty-free, along the lines of the ACID loops?
Otherwise, Sony would have demanded payment every time you used them!
Sony actually makes many sound and video files available royalty-free on the website www.screenblast.com
A limited selection of clips are free to download, and all are available for the cost of a subscription. Once you have them, they're yours. No need to contact Sony every time you use one.
Assuming, of course, that you don't try to sell them outright as your own work (although I think it's safe to assume that using them in the context of your own work -- like stock footage -- is acceptable).
Thanks folks. I ask because I'm thinking of using a media file of an explosion, and some sound effects, in a DV feature film which will be offered to festivals, seeking commercial release.
