RSS Feeds for Sony Forums

Not sure if anyone else will find this useful, but I've been using some RSS feeds of the Sony Forums to keep track of new/updated discussions going on here. I love RSS, so these are very useful to me.

Here are the feed URLs. You can add them to your feed reader to get updates on the forums:

Vegas
http://feed43.com/sony_forums-vegas_video.xml

Vegas Scripting
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_vegas-scripting.xml

Vegas - Audio
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_vegas-audio.xml

Vegas Movie Studio
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_vegas-movie-studio.xml

DVD Architect
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_dvda.xml

AC3 Encoder
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_ac3-encoder.xml

Acid
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_acid.xml

CD Architect
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_cda.xml

Cinescore
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_cinescore.xml

DirectX Plugin-ins
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_directx.xml

Sound Forge
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_soundforge.xml

Sound Forge - Scripting
http://feed43.com/sony-forums_soundforge-script.xml

As you can see, the feeds themselves are provided by the awsomely free website, Feed43.com. All I did was provide the structure of the Sony forums so that Feed43 could properly parse and separate the different threads and turn them into RSS entires. I use this website to keep track of many many websites and forums, but I thought these ones might be of interest to some users of this forum :)

Thanks again Jon for the nudge :)

Hey Jive -
Would you explain to me the advantage of your RSS feeds?

How is it different from simply logging onto the Vegas site and seeing fifty items to a page? Is it that they email you the updates as they occur?

This is non-combative... I just want to learn yet another way of using the internet.

Well for me, as an example I can view an RSS feed on my mobile phone much quicker than I can view the forum web page over mobile.

Also I could have the Vegas Forum RSS feed as a news ticker on my Slim Devices Squeezebox (at the moment it shows the BBC UK news feed when it's in screensaver mode) so it will mean I can check the forum when I'm in the kitchen.

Thanks for this

Excellent! I've been waiting for someone to implement this (actually, I thought Sony would implement a feed...)
I use Bloglines.com to monitor all my feeds and blogs. I like Bloglines because it's web-based (not PC-based) so I can check in from anywhere.

I don't suppose you could create one for the Cinescore forum? I'm not that tech-savvy that I can figure out from that web site how to set this up.

Thanks,
Dan

Put simply, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way for you to stay abreast of the content (news, websites, etc.) that you want to keep up-to-date with without having to visit each and every site to see if there have been any updates.

It's basically the reverse of subscribing to a mailing list. Instead of you providing your email address to the content provider, they provide you with a URL that you input into your feed reader (i.e. Bloglines, Google Reader, etc.) and you'll be able to see when a new item (article, forum thread, etc.) has been added/updated.

Here's the most straightforward tutorial I could find on the utility of RSS after a quick Google search:

(Note: Click the link on the right for a nice video explaning RSS).

Yeah, it would be nice if Sony would update the forum, but considering how barebones the forum is (regarding features, not content :) ), I didn't think it was ever gonna happen :p

I'll work on adding RSS feeds for other forums.

I too have been wishing for a couple updates to the forum. I really don't care much for the extravagent stuff that get in the way, like avatars and stuff. But it would be nice to have RSS and also subscribptions to a thread for email notfication.
