RUNDLL problem

Vic from VU Sound wrote on 8/25/2005, 10:38 AM
After adding Sound Forge as an outside audio editor which seemed to be working fine I started recieving the following RUNDLL Error messages when opening both Vegas and Sound Forge.
When I open Vegas I get the following RUNDLL Error Message:
A fatal exception has occured trying to run "C:\PROGRA~1\Sony\VEGAS6~1.0\vegas60k.dll,_SfPlugIn_Grovel@16 501 1033 Sony_grovel_Event
When I open up Sound Forget I get the following:
A fatal exception has occured trying to run "C:\PROGRA~1\SONICF~1SOUNDF~1.0\forgek.dll,SfPlugIn_Grovel@16-1 1073791505 Sonic_Foundry_Event
I usually closed the error box and the programs ran normally so it seemed until I needed to apply a video Fx plug- in to correct a color problem ,and none of my Video FX plugins work now.
Please help ASAP. I desperately need to finish a project.

I appreciate your info, but I don't have Realplayer 10 or Camstudio on my computer. I have the following AV programs.

Pinnacle studio 9
Windvd
Arcsoft videoimpression
Windows media player
Creative mediasource
windows Moviemaker
Quicktime Player
Sound Forge
Acid
dvd3

I also have put at least 50 hours into the current video project I'm working on , and I can't afford to lose what I done.
Any suggestions as to what to do first.
Thank you for your help

Based on what I read on those threads, this is an indication of a bad DirectX plugin being detected. That DirectX plugin needs to be eliminated in some way.

I have successfully used DirectX Buster to remove DirectX from W98SE. It is supposed to work on XP as well.

Remove DirectX and re-install it by downloading the REDISTRBUTABLE version of it first, then installing it from a folder.

DirectX 9c Redistributable

I am assuming you have the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 installed already.

Please give me the exact order in which to proceed. I downloaded both the DirectXbuster and the DirectX 9 Redistributable. Also, I downloaded the Vegas6b version earlier and installed it. I appreciate your help immensely

Remove both Vegas and Sound Forge. Use a Registry editor to get rid of every trace of both of them.

Install Vegas 6B, then Sound Forge and re-register them (you might have to phone them. They have been having registration problems lately).

Use Direct X Buster to remove Direct X

Install Direct X Redistributable Last.

Trying the solve the "grovel" problem, I followed craftech's directions. Uninstalling DirectX 9 didn't solve the problem and now I can't reinstall DirectX 9 permanently. Now I am forced to refomat my computer.

The thing that did solve the problem was in another thread. Install the Ace Mega Codecs Pack and then uninstall it.

This bug is a major inconvenience since now I will have to install and deinstall Ace Mega Codecs Pack everytime I upgrade my version of Xvid. Shame on Sony.
