Did you have xp pre-installed or did you upgrade over another os? Also have you downloaded 2.0c build (which cures a lot of conflicts)?

I built the computer and did a clean install with windows xp. I also upgraded to videofactory 2.0c and that didn't help. I think what may be wrong is I've upgraded my directx to 8.1b runtime. I've read that computers using the athlon xp processors are having trouble with directx 8.1b and they say you can't uninstall it. Do you think this may be my problem?
Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Success. It is the directx 8.1b that is causing the problem. It you are running windows xp and you upgrade to directx 8.1b, expect problems. you can't uninstall it either. I reformated my hard drives and it videofactory works great.
