Vegas 7 opens fine from the same drive.

This shouldn't happen.
Did VP8 ever run?
Has something changed in your system since installing VP8 ?
If not, uninstall and re-install. Something is missing or corrupted.

Have been running V8P since release date with no issues.
Tried to open the NLE system when I arrived at work this morning and message tells me there is a runtime error and that there was an abnormal termination.
OMG
I don't know what those things are but sounds serious.
Rebooted several times and finally UNinstalled, or tried to.
But reinstalling has proven to be frustrating.
I misplaced my activation code in the move to our new digs.
I'll blame the new move, and not the old man.
Have been colaborating with a chap in India, I suppose, Krishna anyway.
He passed me on to some higher ups.
Suppose they suspect I've stolen the software or something.
Deep breath and back to working on Vegas 7 while I waite for the techies in Madison to run a background check.
Mondays are my favourite.
I'd trade this old sleek panther-like body for a new brain in a heart beat.
Bump bump.

I just got this error on a fresh install of V8 on a fresh install of XP Pro.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Sone\Vegas Pro 8.0\vegas80.exe
abnormal program termination

Any clues?

Has noone else seen this error?

yeah, I've been getting it all evening. It's infuriating. At first, I was getting the runtime "unusual termination" message. Now, I can launch VP8 but when I try to open my HD project, it gets up to about 51% loaded and then gives me this error:
