Salvaging corrupted MPG

Hi -

I have an MPG file that came right off of a Sony Mini DVD cam. The full clip is nearly an hour long, but the first 49 seconds are corrupted, and I no longer have access to the original camera or Mini DVD.

If I drop the clip into VMS 7, it only shows the first 49 seconds and no more. If I go to play the clip using WinDVD8 the beginning is buggy (jumpy), but if I jump past the first minute I can watch the rest of it w/o any problems. I'd like to bring this into VMS and edit and export it to a working MPG2 file for DVD.

Is there any way to cut out the first minute or so of an MPG file and salvage the rest of the clip?

Thanks!

Something like Womble or VideoReDo should be able to trim the file cleanly for you (without re-encoding it all), or there are some freeware MPEG cutters/editors listed here http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-editors-mpg-dvd

Ok - a little freeware program called Mpg2Cut2 from the link above did the trick. Again - thanks!
