SATA DVD drive not writing

FilmingPhotoGuy wrote on 7/6/2009, 12:58 AM
I've installed a Samsung SATA DVD writer but am unable to write anything to it from Vegas or in fact Nero for that matter. I don't think its the drive or Vegas that is the problem but the mobo drivers. I have done the whole firmware thing on the drive and installed latest mobo drivers.

Anybody have simular problems with SATA drives?

Sata burners have a been a pain for me, can you get a q tip and place a small amount of liquid lens cleaner and wipe the laser a few times with it? I almost have to do this every several burns as the lens gets dirty very quickly, and the cd lens cleaners of the cdrom variety do not help at all.

Confession time. My bad!

In DVD-A I was using a 1280x720 mpg as a motion background and it so happend to be the first DVD I wrote after installing the SATA drive so I ass-u-me-d that it was the drive. I re-did the job and it completed no problems.

Just thought you'd all want to learn from someone else's mistakes ISO your own :))
