Satish, this may be embarassing ...

... to SoFo, that is ;-) ;-) ;-)

Yesterday I was getting to grips with your 2 EXCELLENT 3D plugins when reality struck my brain: you write in the help file that this plug-in can work in Wax AND in Vegas AND in Premiere ...

So, you have discovered some magic hocus-pocus that lets your amazing little bit of code speak with Vegas AND with Premiere ... it makes me wonder: would you PLEASE, most kindly, spare your time to think about writing another amazing little piece of code that interfaced between Vegas and any other standard Premiere Plug-in ?

Considering that you know quite well both sides of your plug-in (the Vegas side and the Premiere side), how possible is this endeavour ?

HHHa ha ha ha ha!!! that would be the icing on the cake!
Next, Satish, you could make your own NLE software! ;)

I, for one, hope Satish keeps his focus on Vegas plug-ins ... and I'm willing to pay for them when he wants to charge.

Making Premiere plugins work with any application is quite an amount of work but i can try. But if i do that, i will be out of job as you guys will get all plugins from Premiere. ;) Just kidding... If there is a lot of demand for this, i can give it a shot.

I agree 100% about that.

( Of course, I was kidding about the NLE thing... :D! )

Satish, we ARE interested in getting Premiere and other plug-ins to work with VV. However, it is understandable that everyone likes to eat. If you can make it possible for VV to use "off-brand" plug-ins, you should charge at least a small amount for your efforts. We will pay, be assured.

I'm with sqblz. It would be nice to be able to use third pary plugins with VV.

Okay, requests seem to be building up. :)

You got another vote here.

If you want a business reference for what we are asking for in a wrapper just take a look at Fxpansion. http://www.fxpansion.com/

Angus developed a Vst-DX wrapper that he charges a fee for. Each new person that buys a DX only host [ie:sofo,cakewalk,etc...] can purchase it and have triple the amount of plugin choices to choose from.

Now if you can get one out by the VV4 release date [1st quarter of 2003?] you can bet that everyone looking for video plugins WILL throw down their credit cards to have that kind of power/flexibility.

Its a "win/win" situation for you and sofo. The buzz on vegas 3 is going strong...add to that a rumor of a video wrapper in the works and you now have hysteria on your hands. Get it right between you both by the yet unreleased due date I'll bet you won't be looking for "food stamps" anytime soon.

This ofcourse doesn't mean that you'll be out of the plugin business anytime soon. It just means that you'll have to search a bit harder for the kind of video plugins that people want since so many will be covered due to the wrapper. That is what "polls" are for I guess. And I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there that STILL can't find that right plugin for the job...Build it and they will buy it.

My .02cents.

What i wrote was meant to be a joke. :)

I'll talk with SoFo and see how to go about this one.

Excellent. SoFo, please lend a hand. Maybe hire one.

Actually he should still write VV native plugins. The performance hit with wrapper would be annoying. In audio where the load is far less, the wrapper is OK, but with video I would head for native plug-ins everytime if I needed one.

Since there is no "video wrapper" out now how are you coming up with your statiatics that a video wrapper would add that much more drain to the cpu?

I guess if it did then its easy enough to render out the section/replace in timeline/mute the video track with "wrapped video plugin" in question and continue editing. Either way we'll all be in a better place when its done.

Hello again.

I am glad for having come up with something that stirs the community.
Hereby I declare that I will *not* use the paternity of the idea to claim any commissions (hint, hint, ...)

For those who don't know, here is a glimpse of the plug-ins universe: http://www.adobe.com/products/plugins/premiere/main.html

To SoFo: please bear in mind that one of the major attention grabbers of Premiere is the huge amount of plug-in software (that Vegas doesn't have but maybe could have). If Vegas can claim a similar amount of add-ons *and* a user friendliness that Premiere doesn't have, then guess what will happen ...

Still waiting for SoFo in this thread ...

To Satish: thanks for your professionalism in grabbing the idea. I think that you should integrate your work with the entity most interested in the results (that is, SoFo).

Finally, I am not *really* the inventor of this. Someone in the past launched a thread about frameserving, and I just re-used the idea ...

Cheers ...

Ok, let me bring this up front again...

Satish, have you been thinking about this BREAKTHROUGH VEGAS ADDITION ?
(maybe this way SoFo notices it...)

I would post this in the new fashionable RED, but my HTML expertise is zero :-) .

Have faith ...

Satish,

I'm another Debug fan who would be happy to pay for your plugins. I don't know anything about the difficulties of coding etc, but I would gladly join others in compensating you for your excellent work. And I agree that more plug-ins would help close the market gap between VV and those others...

:) :) Sure, tell me what it should do.. Should it take video frames from the beginning of time(line) and replay now? :)
satish wrote on 12/5/2002, 5:21 PM
Yes i have been spending time on this. And i am doing some trial now for this BREAKTHROUGH NEW ADDITION :) But it will take time, because technically i am in my vacation now ;)
