"Save Active Prerenders on Project Close"?

I would have thought that checking "Save Active Prerenders on Project Close" would mean that the pre-renders would continue to be available when I re-opened the project. But whether I check it or not, the pre-renders are no longer available when I reopen the project.

The help for this item is completely useless and simply restates the prompt text.

Does checking this item simply mean that it doesn't erase the file even though there is no possible way it could be reused? (good way to fill up a disk with useless files...)

What I need is to have the pre-renders kept around from session to session. Is that possible?

Thx.

I just made a quick project and prerendered it, then shut down and reopened. My Prerenders are still there. So this *can* work. I don't know why it's not working for you.

Thanks, Rob. I guess that's better news than if it doesn't work for anybody. I just need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. What version of Vegas are you using are you using? I'm on 9.0b

Just to be sure we are talking about the same thing...

-- Select a region
-- Select "Tools-->Selectively Pre-Render V ideo (Shift-M)"
-- it renders the section and puts a little blue bar over the rendered area.
-- Then close/save the project and/or Vegas and reopen the project
-- The blue bars are still there. (??)

Is that the process? If so, everything is the same with me except when I reopen the project, the blue bars are not there.

I'm working in HDV and render to m2t 1080-60i if that matters.

Hmm, time for more research...

Thanks.

OK, weird... I tried it on a different computer, and it works fine. Something must be corrupted in my install on my original box.

Sorry for the stir. I've got to figure out what's wrong with my Vegas install now.

Thx.

Yep. 9b. Same process.

I'm jamming on work right now so I can't dig into it. I know there's a setting to save active prerenders but it sounds like that's what you're doing.
