Yes.

If there is an image sequence on the timeline (by itself or with a video clip) attempting to do a "Save As" with "Copy Media With Project" ticked leads to an error with message:

"An error occurred while saving the project file xxxxx.veg.
The file name is not valid."

If the image sequence is absent, the Save As works without error.

I have 520 media event files in 20 folders used in this project plus motion CAD sequences, so that is a problem. I'll have to archive all 20 folders, ins and outs. Lots of gigs.

Now I know the flow... Just one media folder for all files if image sequences are used.

This problem also occurs with earlier versions of Vegas, back as far as 7.

Old bugs are better than new ones. Thanks.

Doug, if all you need to do is move all your project media files to a new location, my free Timeline Tools utility has a feature that builds a DOS batch file that will move all project media to a new sub-directory location.

After building and running the batch file from inside Vegas, SVP will detect the files as missing, and it will ask you to supply a new location to find them. Simply use the browse button to open up your target sub-directory then select the file that Vegas is asking for. Finally, tell Vegas to use that location for all the other files.

This adjusts the .veg file to point to the new location for your media. Then simply do a Save As to place the .veg file in the new location.

Try Archive Project from Vegasaur (it has a free 30 day trial period).
Use one of the "Copy source media" options

Blu-ray media backup already done. I programmed mainframes before pc existed, and know DOS commands before windows existed. I also remember typewriters, carbon paper, and 16mm film.

I am very shy of loading programs into the machine dedicated to VegasPro editing. Next time I use image sequences I will work from only one folder.

Did not know -- "Finally, tell Vegas to use that location for all the other files." Good tip.
Thanks.

To sunflower:
Trust the two above users - namely, Gary and Altarvic - their suggested programs Timeline Tools and Vegasaur Utiliities are more than add-ons for Sony VegasPro editors....THEY ARE INDISPENSABLE underpinnings for what SCS did not include - lucky that we as pros get access to such great tools. YOU will need them .
