Save Me!!! VST folder stupidity disease...

Had to wipe my hard drive AGAIN. Merrily re-installing until I tried to install my nifty NUGEN loudness VST plugin. It automatically places its plugins in three folders including the Windows7 Roaming/Sony/Sony Vegas Pro/9.0 however Vegas 9 does not see the VST. Banging my head against the wall for about an hour and it is starting to hurt.

Probably a silly question but does it allow you to do a "custom" installation and then specify your path?

Hi Kimberly, fellow *editor, your question is exactly the heart of the issue. It will allow me to place them where I like but I can't figure out where to put them.

I've tried putting them in folders where other working VST plugins are but that doesn't work. It seems that with Windows7, each VST installation is put into a unique folder according to the developer and somehow Vegas either sees it or it doesn't.

I haven't found a catch-all VST folder in Windows 7 that Vegas will see for sure.

A common "Catch All" folder is c:\Program Files\VSTPlugins

Then go to Options - Preferences to the VST tab in Vegas and add wherever you want Vegas to look.

Edward, you cleared up that quickly. I had completely forgotten about the tab option in the preferences. Now where is that testosterone dose I'm supposed to take...
