Save Snapshot ... saves at current resolution???

I've been using the Save Snapshot button recently (you know, the one on the Preview window).

First time I used it, I expected that the Snapshot would be the same resolution (w x h) as the original file it came from. Uh uh ... it was smaller. Later, I did it again, but I had the Preview window in it's "maximized" state - Display at Project Size .... and found out that Save Snapshot saved it larger.

I.e. Save Snapshot saves the snapshot at whatever it is displaying. This seems boneheaded to me. It should just save it at the maximum resolution possible (i.e. the size from the original file).

Why should the state of a utility window (like the Preview window) affect snapshotting of an image from a video file ???

Maybe I should make a Product Suggestion or perhaps I don't understand the usefulness of this "feature".

It seemed like a good idea at the time? If you right click in the preview window, you can select "Display at project size" - that's the quickest option.

I agree that it seems kind of senseless. However, rather than saving at the resolution of the source file i think it should always save at the resolution of the current project properties settings. I would have thought that what it is doing is simply taking a screen grab of the current preview window. However, this can't be true. If the frame is larger than the preview window the capture includes the entire frame, not just what's visible. So, if it's getting the whole frame, it must be generating it somehow. If it's generating it rather than grabbing it, why not generate at the project properties size?

*shrug* dunno.
