HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!

After spending 8 hours on a project, I saved it, and while doing so, the program shut down. When I restarted VF, I attempted to re-open my project, and I get the message, "An error occurred loading the project file. File not found." I have restarted my computer, run a virus check...nothing helps. The file is in the folder it has always been!

I see the file in the folder it has always been and loaded from before!!! I don't get it!!! HELP!!! I have used VideoFactory 2 and thought of updating to the new Vegas 4.0, but not if this is going to happen. I serached the message board and only saw this similar problem occurring 15 months ago.

Do I have to start this whole thing over again? AGHHHH!

Thanks for the help,

John.

I don't know about the version you are using but Vegas 4.0 has an automatic backup
and restore feature. I only had one crash while in Vegas, by the way it wasn't Vegas'
fault. Vegas was smart enough to instantly back-up the project. Look for a file
with a lot of 00000000.res? or 000000.bak, I can't remember exactly what the file
was?

Hopefully your version has this feature.

My version does have a backup. Apparently, it is automatic. However, how do I restore that? I have a file that says "MyProject.vf" and says it is a "BAK" fil. Another says "MyProject.vf.tmp" that says it is a "TMP" file. Can I convert these somehow to a "vf" file?

Thanks.

I just deleted the ".tmp" from the file AND IT WORKED!!!

I must now pray to the computer Gods that this does not happen again! I just got 8 hours of my life back!!!

Vegas 4.0 has a feature that when you reload Vegas 4.0 after a crash it brings up the 0000000.res (or whatever it's named) and asks you if you would like to restore
it. You click yes and the pre-crashed file is restored!
