Saving a script. . .error

I created a script (.js) in Notepad and was trying to save it to the folder (C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0\Script Menu) with the other VegasPro 13 scripts.

When I try to save I get an access error. This is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I know there are more protections now for access to keep systems secure. I'm the only user on this system and I do have a password when it starts.

Is there a setting I need to change regarding security to give me the ability to save (I also tried and failed at copying the file in or even pasting) a file in this folder?

Any help appreciated.

Wayne

Try saving it to: C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Vegas Script Menu

Closest I could find was "C:\Users\MYNAME\Documents\Sony"

I seem to have access in there but I didn't see anywhere that VP13 is going to populate the scripts list from that location.

I found a tentative workaround by changing the properties so that Notepad runs as Administrator. Still hoping to run this issue to ground.

Thanks.

If you don't have the Vegas Script Menu folder, simply create it and place your script there. Vegas will look for scripts in this folder.

Straightforward approach is to start notepad as administrator - right click on notepad shortcut in Start menu or desktop, select Run as administrator. In this case you will get security prompt from User Access Control on notepad start and will be able to confirm administrator privilege (if you actually have admin access). Then you can save your file into protected folder.

You can also save script to documents location and after that copy it through explorer to desired location in Vegas script menu. In this case you get UAC prompt each time you copy/overwrite scripts into protected folder.
