Saving animations?

I know already about the copy/paste event attributes but I have been racking my brain on how to save 2 pan/crop events as an animation.

Or if that's even possible.

Basically I just need the base video size to shrink and move to the upper right side of the screen, but you can only save one animation event at a time and you can only pan/crop once.

Does anyone have a work around?

Yes there's a fiddly work around that I use. I keep a special project where I store anything like this using a solid colour media generator as my source material. Then when I want the event and its animation in a project I open my special project and copy/paste it to my project. You can have two instances of VMS open at the same time. With the event on the timeline I replace the media.

Another way to achieve this, use instead of pan/crop tool the new crop and or picture in picture FX, those  animations (with keyframes) you can save as a Filter package. Attaching the animation to an event is just like attaching an FX to an event.

Can you explain this a little further?

Like what FX would I use to get that. I tried the Picture in Picture but it scaled down weird and the crop was just cutting the video.

When I understood you right, your shrinking a full size video whilst it moves to the upper right side of the screen. To me this is an animated Picture in Picture effect which can be easily achieved with the Picture in Picture FX, by setting keyframes for scale and location at start and endpoint. This animation can than be saved as a Filter Package, to do so click in the PIP Fx window on the +fx button (top right just above the disk button). The Plugin chooser opens. Click on the right side on the button Save As... Give your animation a name (like PIP fx top right) and click OK.

To attach your saved animation to an event. Click on the Fx button on the event, Plugin chooser opens, click on Filter Packages in the Fx list on the left. Than double click your "PIP fx top right" name in the list. Your animation is attached to your event.

@3POINT - That's very useful as I wasn't aware of that use for Filter Packages. Thanks.

I do essentially the same thing, but I have a pop-up graphic appear at the bottom of the screen and I CANNOT find a way to save Animation Keyframes. PIP will not do it. Pan/Crop will not do it.

Please, Magix/Vegas. This is an issue that needs to be addressed.

You cannot save a set of keyframes as a filter preset, the only way is to save this as a filter package preset as described.
