saving .avi files

Hi all,
If I don't have a DVD burner (yet) and have somewhat limited hard drives what is the best way to save individual .avi clips with a CD burner? (I will be collecting lots of (football) clips over the next couple of months and then making a "montage" at the end of the season.)
Thanks very much,
Randy

Your best quality, if the tapes are DV, is to save backk to a DV tape. Start an Archive reel and save the clips as they come up. Be sure to leave some black at the end so you can rewind and have good continuous timecode.

Thanks Dave,
So are you saying to put them on the timeline (with some space in between) and then print to tape and then cut and paste later when I decide to put the project together?
Thanks again,
Randy
