Saving frames as files from the trimmer.. On the next twlight zone....

Ok, so here I am wanted to put some stills to music. No problem. Ok. I don't want to put my videos on the timeline because it's a waste of time. So, I find the frame I want in the trimmer. It's in the preview window. But, I can't save my frame yet... I'm in Preview (Auto) and don't want a small frame. So I change it to Best (Full). Frame disapears (turns black) in Preview. Ok.. Well, I simply click on the frame in the trimmer again and it re-appears. Ok. I click the "save" disk icon in the preview window. Type in the filename. Go to open it in Photoshop.

And here's the problem....

The file is 1k and solid white! :'-( I try it agin... and agin.. and again.. It works on the 5th try.

So why am I having such a hard time saving a frame from the trimmer as a file? I did it from the timeline no problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't really understand how the frame capture works under the hood but I find that when I capture to clipboard I have to hit the button a few times to get an image onto the clipboard.

I now just tripple-click.

Sounds similar except that vegas is making a file out of the nothingness. To me, this has seemed like an issue of the preview tool not having focus. You may just need to click on its window and then click the button.

I tired and tired and can't duplicate the problem. For me Vegas places a copy on the clipboard everytime, regardless if the clip is on the timeline, in the trimmer or both.

One thing I did notice... out of the dozen or so odd times I tired a couple times the image didn't appear in Media Pool for several seconds. I confirmed all the images were in fact saved by looking outside Vegas and checking that they were in fact saved by viewing with Windows Explorer.

BB, were you doing the clipboard frame copy or the save to disk? I noticed that it didn't save right away from the trimmer (i had photoshop open to edit the images). It did from the timeline however.

What version of Vegas are you using? I'm using d.

I'm still using version C. Never got around to download D yet. I was saving to disk each time.
