Saving new projects to a new external hard drive?

Hi,

I'm sorry if this item is being posted twice. I couldn't find the original posting after I supposedly posted it.

Here we go. Umm....When I first open up Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro Pack 9.0, it brings up a "new project" box and ask for a project name. In the project folder box, it shows "C:\.....\Vegas Movie Studio PE 9.0 Projects\" which is not where I want to start saving my new projects. When I hit the "browse" button, it doesn't give me the option to choose my new 1TB external hard drive that is connected via firewire 800. When I have a new unnamed project, I can manually go to "project" and select "save" and have it save to my new external hard drive. How can I add my new hard drive to the options that come up under the project folder box in the new project - project name box that opens up when I first open VMS? Oh...one other thing....I did save a copy of an existing project to my external hard drive and I might be misunderstanding what's going on but, it seems that when I play the file from my external drive (via firewire 800) that the video ends up playing jittery like. The audio is fine but, the picture is like it has to be rendered even though it's only supposed to be a preview right? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Jim

You should be able to click the My Computer icon on the left edge of the dialog and see the list of all drives attached.

I usually just keep hitting the "up directory" icon at the top of the dialog until i get to My Computer.

Hint: Select "Tree View" from the Vegas Explorer first, then follow Kelly's suggestions above.

Thanks Chienworks and Musicvid! I finally figured out how to get to the option to choose other hard drives but, my new drive doesn't appear there strangely enough. lol... It does when I select "save as" under the "project" tab in the top left of an open VMS project but, not when I choose "browse" under the "new project - project name" dialog box that fist opens up when you open VMS. I know it's probably not a VMS issue so....I'll just have to skip the new project dialog box any time I use VMS I guess. Might be my computer too....I had itunes installed about 2 days ago on my Windows Vista computer and the dang thing has been doing all kinds of funny stuff that it never did till I had Itunes installed. Go figure. Thanks again.
