Saving Project with trimmed media

I am having trouble with archiving projects with the trimmed media. I usually capture entire tapes as one shot ~ 8 gigs. After cutting a five minute seg from say 6-10 tapes I try to save a trimmed version for transfer to a DVD for later revisions - but usually Vegas leaves one of the 8 gig avi's untrimmed - making the resulting project too huge for saving on a DVD. I have posted this problem 1 or 2 years ago but am stilll struggling with it in 6.0c now as I try to archive mutiple segments from a 60 minute show. Any hope for an answer?
Thanks
Paul

One of the weirdnesses with saving trimmed media involves Velocity envelopes. If a velocity envelope has been applied to an event then the whole source file will be copied instead of just the trimmed portion.

If you don't have too many separate sections you might want to consider highlighting the sections as loops and "render loop region only". True, you'll have to do this manually for each section, but it should render fast, and you'll end up with the audio still intact in the file rather than having a separate .w64 file. In any case, trying this with at least the one troublesome section may get around your problem.

Would this velocity envelope difficulty also apply to files archived using John Meyer's very useful batch archiving script?

Thanks for your suggestions. It does relate to velocity envelopes in my projects. Because I most often use the velocity envelopes on only the final shot in a segment - to slow it down - I tried taking the envelope off before archiving then I just have to re-add it to the saved project. I also tried John Meyer's script - but it seems to produce the same problem as a straight Vegas trim and save.
It would be nice to have this bug fixed - is there a method to register a request with the programers?
Thanks

At the top of the page click Support and then Product Suggestion.

Another bummer is when you try to use subclips in your project. They do not trim properly they seem to default to the beginning of the clip.
