Saving Subclips to New Files without Re-Rendering.

I'm in the latest version of Vegas Pro 18. Is there a way to save subclips to new files without going through the process of putting them on the timeline and re-rendering them. I'm using an Olympus OM-D IV to record .MOV files and Presonus Studio One to record Video and Audio for some guitar lesson videos. As an example, it may take me 10 minutes of recording to get one minute of video and audio I can use. I want disregard all unusable footage to save hard drive space. I've tried saving the Vegas project to a new folder and I've selected the copy media with the trim option but it doesn't work. I get a warning saying it won't trim the footage to preserve quality. I also have Movavi and that seems to be an option to accomplish it with an external program but it doesn't show the audio wave form so it's much more difficult to locate the exact spots that are usable. The best option would be able to do this in Vegas without putting things on the timeline but if anyone had any recommendations for an external program that would allow saving subclips to files without rerendering that would also be an option. Thanks in advance!

i am not sure if i understand you correctly, so you basically want to trim, but not losing quality and time on clips?

Instead of Reencode any stuff, why not using a cutter that just cuts?

https://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tmsr6.html

Technically you could achieve that even for free with FFMPEG, it just takes a manual command line and specific timestamps and lenght mentioning etc. (but probably there is even a gui for that).

Try this FFMPEG Gui

https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut#download

Or this one https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpegyag/

(NOTE in the field 'codec' it must be 'copy' as command, that means it will not reencode but copy the content)

https://vegasaur.com/smart-trim of the @altarvic does this directly in Vegas.

https://tools4vegas.com/smartvideotrim/ of the @wwaag does this directly in Vegas.

https://www.solveigmm.com/en/products/video-splitter/ does this as external software.

I had already found lossless cut and another one called Bandicut. Neither of those were what I was looking for due to the lack of and audio waveform visualizer. Based on your links it looks like either Pegasys or Solveig are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks you both for the links! Huge time saver.

I had high hopes for TMPGEnc but unfortunately the waveform visualizer doesn't show the entire wave form or enough of it to see the area I need to cut, it only shows the waveform right around the area of the playhead. I'll check out some of the other links and see if any of the other options work.

tools4vegas is looking like the best option so far.

I agree.

At moment, HOS SmartVideoTrim cuts more accurately and with a more exact match than Vegasaur Smart Trim. But the Vegasaur developer is working on improvements to this tool which has many other amazing options besides cutting, such as custom commands for example..

I made a small screen recording showing how the two tools work directly in Vegas Pro. Hope this helps. Good luck!
