Saving Timeline Settings

Let me try to explayn what I mean, when I work on a project I have the ruler above the timeline set to 2 seconds, this is how I like it; if I make a transition I slide the one event 2 notches over the left one and its a 2 sec. transition.
After saving my project and then lets say next day I reopen it those settings are gone.
If anybody can figure out what I'm talking about please help.

go to file, properties, ruler , set it the way you want then click the box that says start all projects with these settings,, ( it says something like that, not at vegas now)

That won't change the amount of time that's visible in the timeline. It always reverts back to a "default" setting. You then have to manually zoom back in.
