Saving wav files with position information?

I'm recording a multitrack project in one studio with ProTools (Mac). There will be punch-in's and overdubs. I want to save all the tracks from each song as separate wav files, burn to CD, and work on them in a different studio (PC) using Vegas 1.0b. The main tracks (of which there are 5 being recorded at the same time) are no problem. However, is there a way to save these wav files (from ProTools) so that the punch-ins and overdubs that are NOT recorded from the beginning of the song are somehow saved with timeline location so that Vegas can recognize where on the timeline they belong when I open them in Vegas?

Thanks,
Mark

If you export a track, from project start, as a wav file, the punchins and overdubs will be in the right place when you load the .wav file in Vegas.

Let me make sure we are on the same page here. Lets say, for example:

1) I record a five track, three minute project with ProTools. I do a punch in that creates a sixth track (let's say it starts at 1:30 and ends at 1:35 on the timeline).

2) I export all six tracks as six separate wav files. The sixth track being the 5 second overdub that started at 1:30 and ended at 1:35.

3) I burn these six wav files to CD, take them to the PC with Vegas Pro.

4) I start a new Vegas file and using the explorer window, I select all six wav files from the CD and drag them to the Vegas track window.

The short punch-in wav file will be positioned at 1:30 on the Vegas Pro timeline? Even though the wav file is not as long as the other five tracks.

I was thinking that the little five second punch-in wav file would be placed at the very beginning of the timeline (0 seconds).

Thanks,
Mark

You need to render the punch-in tracks just like the other start-to-finish tracks- as one project-length .wav file.

silence...punch-in...silence...punch-in...silence (all this inside of one .wav).

Do it this way and everything will line up.

I think hes talking about multiple layers of takes too, so the render wouldnt work

Would saving the wav files with Scott Studio info be of any help? Could Vegas Pro possibly read the Scott info and tell Vegas where to put the file?
