Scanner not found

If someone can help me quickly I would appreciate it! I know this happened to me once before a long time ago and I think the fix was easy- I just don't remember it. When I try to scan a picture Vegas 5 doesn't recognize my scanner (HP 1500 all in one) when I choose it from the drop down list it starts but then goes to unknown error has occured. Is there a way to reset it or something. It was working fine before. I think last time I uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas, but afterward realizied I didn't have to do that, if I remember right. Also, the strange thing is the message I get seems to be from the Jasc/Corel website. It says "Camera connection failed" and the help button then takes me to a Corel page. Anything would be helpful- I have a 24 hour deadline on the project I am working on! thanks!

As far as I know, Vegas won't recognize your scanner. It's designed to work with camcorders, not scanners.
Run the scanner software that your HP came with, scan your images to a file and then import the scanned images into Vegas when you're done.

Vegas works well with scanners. In fact, in the MEDIA POOL there is an ICON for a scanner.

Memorymaker, What other drop down options do you have?

Thanks DaveT2. I've seen the icon but never bothered experimenting with it.
Looks like it'll be playtime tonight :-)

There's also an item on the File menu called Get Photo. With an icon of a scanner next to it. ;-)

I'm guessing this will be more of a Windows problem (though "I could be wrong" ). Most video / editing apps just send a call out to whatever scanning software you have (ScanGear, for example) and then accept whatever image that outputs. Try running by itself the app that came with your scanner (or what you've replaced it with, if anything). If that detects your scanner, than the problem is either Vegas or the communication between Vegas and the scanning software. If not, it's the scanning software, which would be simpler to reinstall than Vegas.

What Corel software do you have, since the error is directing you there? If Paint Shop Pro, I'm not even sure why it would get involved.

Thank you all for your help, but I reset Vegas (starting Vegas while holding down ctrl shift) and it is back to normal. I don't know why it stopped recognizing the scanner but resetting the program solved the problem. Thanks again all!
