Scanning...one pass?

I needed to scan over 100 images for a photo montage. I wanted to know if there is a program available that will allow you o place 4+- images on the platten at one time and it runs the scanner across the entire platten, auto cropping the images and saving them directly.

I own VuseScan but have not come accross this feature as of yet. I did see this feature in a Canon program that is bundled with their scanners.

Any insights???

Thanks!

One insight that I can see is restricted ability to fix problems in another application because you have so many on one scan. (4 pictures, 4 different corrections). This makes for a hard life.

Check vuescan again. I believe you can set multiple scanning "windows". You have to give each window it's own settings (dpi, sharpen, correction etc).

One thing I've learned is to do a photo montage right you need REALLY clean scans. There is no easy way to do this. Dust between each scan and use Digital Ice or similar. By the way Digital Ice takes time and lord knows we are all on the clock. Be prepared to spend as many hours with your scanner and photo shop as you do in vegas. I have spent 3 years looking for scanning shortcuts to "crank" out projects and I have not run accross anything that doesn't just gobble up time.

BTW, there is no automatic way to scan a platten of photos and have them seperated for you. Neither is there a scanner that has an auto photo feed that works worth a sh*t (don't even mention photo damage).

Also buy some books to learn image editing basics like using histograms, curves and levels. relying on whatever "auto" widget your software editor has will not give you the consistent results you need for a photo montage video project.

If you find anything promising, let us know.

take care
