Scene Detection

I just bought Vegas Video but can't get the auto scene detection to work during capture. I've tried two different OHCI compliant 1394 capture cards and no change. I can control my video camera, Canon ZR 30, such as play, rewind, stop, etc, but whenever I try to capture it just comes us as one clip. I'm a fairly beginning video editor, having used Pinnacle Studio DV as my former editor (I never had any problems with that software). I've also used the simple Microsoft video editor also with no problems with scene detection. This is costing me too much time making manual splits at scene changes! Any ideas would be appreciated!

The scene detection in Vegas is based on the Time/Date changes when you stop and start the camera. It does not scene detect by content like Studio DV.

Exactly. Try turning on date/time display on the camera to see if it has date/time information on the tape. Perhaps the date/time was not set on your camera when you shot this footage?
