Scene detection for HD video

Vegas does not perform scene detection for HD video that it captures, as it does for standard DV. Is there a reason? Is anyone aware of an HD capture application that does such detection? It really slows down the editing process without this capability.

Still can't find the answer to what I want to do, namely to automatically split the event on the time line (without breaking up my AVI proxy). To me not having it is a bug, not a lack of a feature.

To follow up, this will split your m2t file into clips based on scenes.
