Scene detection when capturing HDV

I just did my first attempts capturing HDV from my HC1. Everything worked fine except that all scenes were captured in one file (.m2t). Dragging the file into the timeline still kept the scenes together in one piece (i.e. not possible to do transitions between scenes).
Am I doing something wrong or is this a "HDV feature"?

I don't know anything about HDV, but there's nothing stopping you putting transitions in - just split the event and add a transition. You'll have plenty of gaps when you've cut out the unwanted footage ;-)

Ok, thank you, that'' s a way of doing it of course (haven't explored all functions yet). But I still do not see why HDV capture should be different from ordinary DV regarding scene detection? It is very practical having all scenes in separate files.
