Scene detection: why ain't it working?

Is there any reason why Vegas' scene detection might not work at all? I've used it successfully a few times, but I just captured another tape tonight and Vegas detected none of the scenes. This latest tape was shot by another videographer, but it's a DV tape and I'm assuming that all prosumer DV camcorders record basic timecode. Is this correct? Is there any other reason why scenes might be ignored by Vegas?

Have you checked under Options / Preferences? There's a checkbox for enabling DV scene detection. Maybe this got unchecked?

Also, if the tape was recorded continuously, such as a music concert. Then there are no scenes to detect. Vegas assumes a new scene when the time/date information changes, not when the scene changes.
