The only way you would get multiple instances of the Mpeg file would be if you had animated thumbnails. Even then they should be much shorter than your main presentation. I just tried it and only had one long mpeg file and very short files for all chapters in Scene Selection Menu. I don't know what you are doing to get what you say you are getting?

Maybe something simple...

When you originally drop the source video onto DVD-A's workspace it's thumbnail is a link to the file. When you create a scene selection menu that's a second link. Once the scene selection menu is created DELETE the original thumbnail and after you do note the difference in the estimated file size of your project sown in the extreme lower right hand corner.
