scene selection menu - glitch?

JAP wrote on 12/20/2011, 10:21 PM
When creating a scene selection menu, I copy the movie link button as many times as I need to create the various scene selections before setting each one with its separate in and out point that allows the section to play and then return to the menu.

This has previously worked without a problem.

However, this time I find that each time I set and in and out point for a scene, it is replicated across all scenes. No matter what I do, any change to one of the button links makes them all the same. I am at a loss to understand why, this time, this is happening.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why and how to stop it happening?

Sorry I can't answer you question directly.

What I would do is create a separate video for each scene, and then drag them one at a time onto the menu page.

Thanks for your reply, Peter.

That's what I used to do until, from these forums, I learned the copy method, which is a lot faster/more efficient since it uses just one rendered movie file rather than having to, separately, render several smaller movies.

And up to now, it's worked well. And that's the crux of the matter - why should it stop working. To my knowledge, I've done nothing different this time.

Again, thanks for your help.

Hopefully another poster might be able to offer an explanation/suggestion.

I can't reproduce your problem, but you can still use a single rendered file and drag more than one copy into the project window. Each can then be dragged onto the preview window and set to a different start and/or end time. The file will still be rendered only once and occupy only a single amount of disc space.

I don't think you copy the buttons, I think you create multiple copies in the project source window.

Dave T2 is correct.
I'm working on a theatre production right now that has 22 songs on a single Vegas timeline with a marker at the start of each song.
I add the same rendered video to the source window 22 times and then go in to each one and set in and out points based on the markers.
