Scope This Out

Is there a software based waveform monitor that will display incoming firewire video while capturing?

I use a Cannon Visualizer to capture pics via S-video into a Canopus box, firewired into my system. The visualizer lets me size, white balance and set luminance at the input stage...saves lots of time. The only caveat is not having a standard by which to adjust brightness. A simple software based scope would be great. Anyone know where I can find one?

Well, yes, sort of. This software product got my "Best of Show" award at this year's NAB convention in Las vegas. It's called "DV Rack" by Serious Magic software. It does what you want and MUCH more. It hasn't been released yet, but I have seen it and played with it and It is the single coolest piece of software I have seen in a LONG, LONG time.

That link didn't work for me but it is early morning (1AM) Sunday in California.

A while back I asked if there was a way to use the Vegas scopes in real time. They are great and I wish there was. Sony, how hard could it be to hook up either in capture or standalone?

John, will this product work that way? (I'd like to be able to see what my camera is seeing in realtime.) And, any idea of cost?

Hoping the web page is only down temporarily.

5 minutes later the link is ok now.

Can't see any mention of price yet, but I'm on the mailing list.

I found a couple of articles that mention the price of the DV Rack.
Around $500.

Here's a link to one of those articles:
