Track Motion. In the header, extrme left of track. Put your videos on two tracks. Use the blue box (track motion) to size each to fit in same frame.

I can get the video into the window but it is still the original size and the window just acts as a small window to the original sized video. I cna't see the hole video just the section that the window will let me see. I need to make the vidoe scale to fit the window.

What Billy was trying to tell you is to forget about the Photoshop mask. Just use Track Motion. Once you select Track Motion a dialog will pop up. Grab one corner of the video with your mouse and resize it to be smaller. If you can’t figure it out just look Track Motion up in the help file and it will show you what button we’re talking about.

If you only want to do this for specific clips you can use event pan and crop.

OK sorry guys, I was making it harder that it was by thinking I needed an alpha channel to use for the second video. After I removed the Mask Track it worked fine. Thanks for all of your help.

Yep, Pan/Crop will work too but it works backwards. You have to enlarge the screen area to make the video smaller. So it’s kind of confusing for doing a PIP but still works just fine.

OK, expanding on the screen in screen discussion and showing a little more of my ignorance with the program. Can you feather the edges or fade the edges of the smaller screen to soften the edges?

Vegas has an effect called Border with a preset called Soft Edge. This should do what you want.
