I would use whatever is the native resolution of the LCD display. I have never found any display to be "too detailed to be usable."

Try the standard LCD resolution. If stuff is just too tiny for your eyes, go into Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/General and change the DPI setting to something higher. I'd suggest 120dpi.

Problem with changing the text font in the display options is that it doesn't change the resolution for the text for headings etc in Vegas. Anyone used the 1900x1200 resolution on a 17 inch screen in Vegas? And is it useable?

Cheers, Maurice

I have had a 17" laptop for about 3 years running Vegas. The screen on my HP runs at 1680X1050 native resolution.

Vegas and everything else is fine at that resolution.

All laptop screens are extremely difficult to calibrate of course. But that is mostly a Photoshop issue.

Thanks for that Jeff. I think you are probably right at the upper limit of what is acceptable in terms of character size in Vegas, such as the numbers along the top of the track window.

The screen resolution choices I can choose from are either 1920x1200 or 1440x900. Doing some calculations tells me the text size with the higher resolution will be only 70% of what I am getting with my current resolution of 1024x768 on a 14 inch screen. I already find the Vegas track numbers quite small and I think the large resolution option would be uncomfortably small for me.

I'm assuming there is no way of getting Vegas to increase the character size. I certainly can't find a way of doing it.

I guess the clarity of the characters on a new machine would be will be better given that my current laptop is 4 years old. The trouble is I can't afford to get it wrong cos I'd have to live with a bad decision for a long time.
