screen size (windows too big for screen)

I've been having this problem in Vegas. I go to apply an effect and the window is too big to fit on my monitor. I have to drag the window all the way up to the top of the screen in order to see all the keyframe buttons & features at the bottom of the window. I;ve noticed this in photoshop too. It's like the windows are too big for my screen and I can't resize them. I'm using a screen area of 800X600 in my display properties (anything else is too hard to see). I also have a radeon 8500 video card that comes with hydravision. My set up is duel monitors with an older 21 inch screen and a 17 inch flat screen. Still some windows are too large.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to correct it?

Drag one edge of the window to make it smaller?
This is an issue when running dual head, Windoz thinks the desktop is the size of the two monitors so it takes a little tweaking to get it right.

Also, the windows will be to "big" at lower resolutions. They require a minumn amount of pixels to work. Try seting your monitor to 1024x768. It's not much bigger then 800x600 and might be ok. Or, make your 2nd monitor a higher resolution and place your windows over there.

I personaly work in 1600x1200. It's got a nice amount of room for everything i need. :)

it doesn't give me the option to re-size the windows. I'll do some tweaking and post again

Use track motion

I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out how track motion would have anything to do with this topic. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You do find some amazing replies at times, I know everyone is trying to be helpful but for someone who's starting out and very uncertain about what they're doing some of them must be mighty confusing.

I always make it a point to:

a) read the original post
b) read the post that I'm replying to as well to make certain it isn't getting confused with where the tread has wandered off to .

I tried setting both monitors at 1024x768. Tried a variety of different setting and still no luck. I still can't fully see the keyframe buttons at the bottom of the screen. I can re-size the windows inside of Vegas & drag them out to be larger but it doesn't expand the view inside. (just a larger window of what seems to be scrunched together). Like I said in my original post, this happens with some of the windows in Photoshop.

Please. How can I correct this? I never had this problem with earlier versions of Vegas. Has this ever happened to anyone using dual monitors? Could it be the hydavision feature in the radeon card, anything?

What if on your second monitor you set it to 1280x1024? Then you can resize the properite windows bigger.

You are talking about not seeing the wole propertie window, correct (like when applying FX)?

Sorry. I was a little tipsy when I read it.

yes, no matter how big I resize the window it remains scrunched and unchanged. No monitor settings or adjustments seem to help.

Just curious, but are you resizing the effects window itself? Or are you only resizing the whole Vegas window?

the actual effects window itself. either way not everything is being displayed. strange huh?
