Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0a is ready

Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0a was just posted on our site.
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

Mostly this was a rebranding to Sony. Also, the Credit Roll problem was fixed and a problem with wmv templates was fixed. I don't know what that problem was -- some of them were unavailable??

Good news: There is a trial version that is fully functioning for 30 (you read that right, 30) days. The only limitation is you don't get to use mpeg (it's licensed) and can only use 20 mp3s (it's also licensed). VIP: Get the trial on the trial page, the regular update won't work as a trial. It'll ask for a Serial Number and be useless.

Bad news: if you want to buy MS you need to buy the packaged version (licensing restrictions). If you're one of the people who aren't buying MS 3 because of high shipping costs, look at it this way, you now have 30 days to try it. That should give you time to find someone who will purchase it where shipping costs are lower (free shipping in the US until 31 Dec) and send it to you I'm sorry we can't change that.

Screenblast ACID 4.0a has also been updated. Trials on trial page, updates on update page.

I am confused; are you saying that this is not an update to the existing 3.0? If I already own 3.0 do I need to download this 'update?'

For those of who have already purchased Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0, will this update work without the 30 day limitation?

Also, if so, is there anything special we need to do when installing it or will it automatically recognize we have a licensed product?

Thanks...

There are two versions available:

screenblastmoviestudio3.exe
screenblastmoviestudio3-trial.exe

Those who already own Screenblast Movie Studio 3 should download screenblastmoviestudio3.exe, which is an update, from here:

Those who don't own Screenblast Movie Studio 3 and would like to try it should download screenblastmoviestudio3-trial.exe, which is a trial version, from here:

I’m glad to see there’s finally a trial version that we can tell people to download and see for themselves. Good work!

Re: Trial version.

It's about time. IMHO, Sony really shot themselves in the foot by not offering a demo earlier.

There wasn't a demo before? Freaky. I'm a Vegas user, and I've been planning to download a Screenblast demo for a friend for about a week now, and finally remembered to get it tonight. It just happens that the first ever trial was released about 9 hours prior?

Freaky.

Sorry I was so confusing. I'm really happy about the trial and as you can see I was focused on that. Anyway the update 3.0 --> 3.0a works like any other update and it has two major fixes.

Thanks so much for posting this information.

I'm glad there's now a trial version, but I can imagine people getting very confused when they find they can't author DVDs! The web page says the download's fully fuctional - true, but misleading.

So I just purchased the VideoFactory to Screenblast upgrade today for $29.95 from your website. Are you saying that after I receive this boxed version I then have to upgrade it with 3.0a? That's not a problem, I'm just trying to get clarification on what the boxed version really is -- 3.0 or 3.0a.

Thanks.

Wonderful to have the credit roll bug fixed.
I had (as recently as last week) a 100+ line credit roll that I had to re-enter 4 times, each time from scratch, due to silly little typos.
Thanks for getting this one fixed!!!

Are projects created with the Screenblast trial download compatible wth full version?
djcc wrote on 12/17/2003, 7:39 AM
I don't see why the trial project would not be compatible with the full version. I just upgraded my licensed copy of 3.0 to 3.0a and it worked fine. Its nice to see the credit roll fixed.

I have a licensed version of 3.0 but when I check for update in the program, I get the info that no update is available...
How do I get the 3.0a update?

I have 2 interrelated projects on the go... should I wait till I am finished to download the upgrade or not?
Thanks
