Screenblast Vegas Similarities?

I am a newbie to the video world, but having a great time checking out all of the editing software. Couldn't check out SB due to no demo, but have played with Vegas 4 and having a lot of fun with it. It's relatively simple for basic stuff (and some not so simple stuff) and wondering how similar the interface is with SB. Since I'm not a pro it's difficult to justify the big bucks for the VV + DVDA. I realize that SB will be limited in many ways, but just wondering how similar they are.

The interface is very similar - tracks are already defined in SB (3 each for audio and video) and it doesn't use key frames - effects etc run from the start to the end of a clip. As you'd expect, SB doesn't have the same breadth of features as its bigger brother, but it's still a very powerful NLE, at an entry level price. Less obvious, but no less important, is its stability - it's rock solid on a wide range of platforms!

Thanks for the reply and you already answered my other post re: the keyframe issue.
Great forum! I have downloaded the manuals for both and can see exactly what you referred to in your post. Wish I could come into a few bucks real soon. :)

You can download Video Factory 2 and check that out. Movie Studio 3 adds a 3rd video track, chroma key, and some addition transitions and video FX. (plus MyDVD). It's an entry-level Vegas and everything you learn will be transferable to Vegas when its time for more power.
