Screwed up something in markers

I was merrily editing a video this afternoon and am ready to render to mpg for DVDA. I was putting in markers for chapter points, but the dialog entry box doesn't come up any more. I have to right click each one and select rename to enter text. I checked the Preferences but there was nothing pertaining to this. I tried restarting Vegas but still no go. Anyone have a suggestion?

Probably exceeded the marker limit. How many markers do you have, and what version of Vegas? You can have lots of markers, but only 9 numbered (earlier versions of Vegas) or 99 in later versions. After that limit, you can't name them anymore.

Actually I only have 7 on the timeline. It must be something else.

Options - Preferences - General tab

Automatically name Regions and Markers if not playing

If checked, it will automatically prompt for the marker name UNLESS the timeline is playing.
