I'm wondering if there's someone out there who would be generous enough to write the following script, if it's even possible.
I do a lot of looping/adr and I prefer to use Vegas, when possible, due to its workflow benefits. However, I'm always required to convert my session into a Pro Tools session for my client. In other words, I need to make them believe I'm NOT using Vegas and really using Pro Tools (ah, the same old sad story, but that's for another day) So, the hardest part of the the cross-platform game is getting the event takes to translate to a Pro Tools session (I use EDL Convert to do this). They just don't. I inevitably get a message about event boundaries being wrong, etc. And then the resulting Pro Tools session doesn't have those events at all, or the media.
SO, what I would like is a script that would do what Vegas should be able to do anyway:
expand the takes in an event out to separate tracks. I want to be able to select the event, run the script, and have all the takes be "exported" to new adjacent tracks and removed from the "take list" in the original event. Ideally, If I ran the script on multiply selected events that are on the same track, it could look for the one for the most internal takes, start with that one and then expand the rest, putting them on the same adjacent tracks, rather than creating new tracks for EACH event. This would limit track #s. Does that make sense?
This would be incredibly helpful.
Pro Tools 8 looks like it really nails the idea of takes right on the head. It expands a track with multiple takes in it into several "sub tracks" and allows you to make a "comp" track out of them. Brilliant. I really wish Vegas could do comping and event joining in a more intelligent way. So much of the rest of Vegas is brilliant in its workflow.
anyway, that's my script request. I would be most grateful!
thanks,
