I was wondering if there can be a script that will send a "split" command (the one that is normally assigned to the S key) but after that it will select the event right before the split. It would be good also if there was a second script that will send the split and select the event right next to the split, which Vegas does by default if the event you're working on was selected, but it doesn't if it wasn't selected before hand.
I'm trying to replicate more or less the editing behavior in Edius, which I found to be very useful and fast when doing straight cuts. When you're playing the timeline, you place the cursor exactly where you want to start the event, press C (the split shortcut in Edius) and the event to the left of the cursor is automatically selected, so you press the DEL key and you're done. To trim the end of the event, you do the same, except that you have to press Alt+Right Arrow to select the event to the right of the cursor. That's another script that would be great to have in Vegas, to press Alt+ Left arrow key to select one event to the left and continue to the previous event with each pressing of this combination, and Alt + Right arrow key to go in the other direction.
I suppose these two scripts have to be easy to do, please let me know if it is and how.
