Scroll text along side video

I seem to be having a tough time trying to figure out how to have “scrolling text” credits on black left 2/3 of screen along side video clip on right 1/3.
I certainly would appreciate any help with this.

Insert generated media
choose credit roll
In credit roll, justify to the right.
Use track motion if necessary to correctly place media to a tighter position
Use track motion to create shadow on credit roll.

The right third isn't, but using credit roll and track motion for shadow is. In the compositing chapter, but I don't have a copy of the book handy to look for what page.
